How To Prepare Your Home For A Showing!

Written By: Ashley Feschuk

Seems easy enough right? Wrong. It's not always easy to see our homes with the same freshness that outsider might have when viewing our spaces. It is easy to get comfortable and fall into patterns. So let me make this easy for you and break it up into a few simple steps to keep in mind when preparing for a showing.

Number 1

Clean and then Clean Again

Yes I know it isn't fun but it matters! A cleaner home will usually sell faster than a dirty one...Buyers look at homes with filthy rugs, marred walls and scummy showers and all they see is more work, time and expense for them.

Number 2

Smells begone.

If it smells bad in your home buyers will want to get the heck out of there. I suggest using essential oils to make it smell fresh or find scents that trigger nostalgic moments.

Number 3

Open the blinds and Turn on the Lights

Generally people want to see what they are buying. A brighter home presents a happier space to viewers walking through.

Number 4

Take your pets with You!

If people are coming and going that can cause stress for the animal.

Number 5

Play some light background music

Nothing too aggressive, maybe some classical. What I'm getting at here is setting the tone. You want your house to reflect a calm and peaceful environment. Music can send subtle messages to help you achieve this goal.

And so there you have it. I hope some of these tips will help you on your way to a successful showing.
